THE ADMINISTRATION OF BEE BREAD

The common ways of marketing bee bread are:

  • Maiden wax in honeycomb,
  • Dry maiden wax,
  • Honeycomb with maiden wax into honey,
  • Maiden wax in different preparations or in personalized beecocktail.

I insist on consuming the bee product (nowadays maiden wax/bee bread) in its raw state as we find it in the beehive. By processing it, the product loses some of its qualities. In order to get maiden wax out of the honeycomb, it has to be dried, and by drying it, it doesn’t lose only water. Once taken out of the honeycomb, it gets in touch with the air and oxidation reactions begin. After storing the pollen into the honeycomb, the bee puts a layer of honey as a lid which acts as a barrier to the air, bacteria or fungi.
Generally, the honeycomb in which bees store maiden wax is a dark honeycomb.

The administration of maiden wax is similar to the one of pollen, the difference being the dosage. For similar effects, maiden wax is given in smaller doses than pollen.

As ways of administration, I mention:

  • Internal: by swallowing maiden wax after a long process of chewing it into the mouth; mixing maiden wax with honey or other food (yoghurt, fruit, seeds); daily consumption of a personalized bee cocktail which contains several bee products mixed according to the disease, age, sex, existing sensitivenesses;
  • External: in cosmetic masks, combined with other bee products (honey, royal jelly); in dermatology as a nourishing adjuvant for the cells of the skin.

When giving maiden wax, we must take into account the following rules: we start by testing the allergy; we give a very small quantity and increase the dose gradually; we keep maiden wax as much as possible into the mouth; we do not heat it; we do not keep it in sunlight for a long time; we avoid keeping it in humidity; we keep it in tightly closed containers; combine maiden wax with honey (honey being a good “carter” to “targets”).
